About

Helping freelancers stand out on Upwork (opens in a new tab).

I'm Jovan. I've spent 16 years freelancing on Upwork (opens in a new tab), and I built BecomeFreelancer to give you the profile, the strategy, and the honesty I wish someone had given me when I started.

0people already built their Upwork profile

I started freelancing with no plan and no idea what I was doing. I applied to jobs with a profile that looked like everyone else's, and I got ignored more often than not.

Over 16 years, I learned what actually gets a client's attention on Upwork (opens in a new tab), and what quietly kills your chances. I reached Top Rated Plus status, and I've earned over $500K on the platform.

Somewhere along the way, people started asking me to look at their profiles. I kept saying yes, and eventually that turned into BecomeFreelancer. Outside of client work, I'm a pets lover - and honestly, working from home means you need a furry friend to glance over at every couple of hours, or the quiet gets to you. What I love most about Upwork (opens in a new tab) is that it's real: you reach the clients you'll actually work with, build real business with them, sometimes even travel to meet them. Working from home doesn't mean working alone - you end up making genuine friends without ever leaving the house.

If you're reading this, you're probably where I was 16 years ago - unsure whether any of this can really work. It can. I'm living proof of it, and I built BecomeFreelancer so you don't have to spend 16 years figuring it out the way I did.

I don't have all the answers.
I just know where the mistakes are, so you don't have to make them.

In My Own Words

My Vision

I believe freelancing should be honest. Not a game of who can write the flashiest profile, or who's willing to work for less - just real skills, presented clearly, connecting with clients who actually need them.

That's the freelance world I want to help build, one profile at a time.

Why a wild goat on a cliff?

Our mark is a wild goat, climbing a steep, jagged cliff. Not tame, not predictable - a wild goat doesn't always fall, and it doesn't always make it either. Some climbs are clean. Others aren't. That's the whole freelance journey in one image.

I've lived that climb for 16 years - see it for yourself on my Upwork profile (opens in a new tab). Some months I had more clients than I could handle. Other months, it went quiet for so long I wondered if it would ever pick back up. And sometimes the wolves show up too - a bad client opens a dispute, knocks you clean off the cliff, and you're left wondering what you did wrong.

Every time, I climbed back up. Nothing about this life is easy, and I've made my share of mistakes along the way - BecomeFreelancer exists so you make fewer of them than I did. This is built for people willing to climb anyway.
